Sending Course Mail to Internet AddressThis is a featured page

Reported by several Pierce College faculty:

Description:
The "Course mail" nugget is a self-contained e-mail system within Angel. If students aren't showing up and logging in to see the course mail in the classroom, can I also send it to the Internet e-mail address I can view by using the Course Roster nugget? Do I need to copy their e-mail address from there and go to my mail system to send them a message outside of Angel?

Ed Bachmann from Pierce College:

Angel has a self-contained email system. This 'internal' e-mail system has value because it keeps messages and attached assignments (if you use e-mail as a means of submitting course work) always available in Angel and they don't get lost in Spam filters, etc.

y default, sending a course mail message in the classroom only goes to the internal Angel email system. You have to check a check box at the bottom of the composition window to tell Angel to send a copy to the student's Internet email address. You might want to check the Communicate tab and and select the Course Roster nugget's link to see who have valid addresses entered and get those who don't to edits their Preference (see item on Viewing Student Information).

If you want to change the default setting of that check box that sends your Course mail message to their Internet e-mail system, so it is automatically checked when you open the new message composition window, go to the Manage tab, and select Mail Settings in the Course Settings nugget. The control for the check box is at the bottom:
